Daily Myrrh has no accounts, no advertising, no analytics, and no tracking. Your reading, prayers, and journal stay on your device. Two optional features send content off your device only when you use them: the Ask companion (your questions) and spoken-prayer transcription (your voice, to Apple, as with dictation). Neither is used for advertising, profiling, or training, and we store none of it on our servers.
To make the app work, some things are saved locally on your device only:
We cannot see any of this. If you delete the app, this information is removed with it.
When you send a question to the companion, your message (with its conversation, and your first name if you provided one) is transmitted to our server, which forwards it to Anthropic (the maker of Claude) to generate a response, subject to Anthropic’s privacy policy. The same applies when you ask the app to write down or shape a prayer from the Prayer Book.
If you never use Ask or the Prayer Book’s writing features, nothing is sent.
If you choose to pray aloud, your speech is transcribed using Apple’s speech recognition — the same service used when you dictate a message — subject to Apple’s privacy terms. On devices that support it, transcription happens entirely on the device. Daily Myrrh never records, stores, or transmits your audio to our servers, and the transcript is kept only on your device unless you use the Ask companion’s features above.
The optional nightly reminder is a local notification scheduled on your device. Nothing about it leaves your phone.
We use no advertising, analytics, or tracking services. The only third parties that ever receive content from the app are Anthropic (Ask questions and prayer texts, when you use those features) and Apple (speech recognition, when you pray aloud), each solely to provide the feature.
If you listen to audiobooks or podcasts, your device streams that audio directly from its source (the Internet Archive, or the podcast’s own publisher), exactly as any podcast app does. We send them nothing about you, and podcast feeds are fetched through our server without any information about you attached.
Daily Myrrh is suitable for all ages. We collect no personal information and maintain no accounts for anyone, including children.
All of your data lives on your device: delete the app and it is gone. Nothing about you is retained on our servers to delete.
We will update this policy as the app evolves, and material changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date above.
